We Need Your Input: Cost of Care Survey 2023

We Need Your Input.

Help Elevate the Voice of State Funded, Center-Based Programs Today!

As you have likely heard by now, California is changing how it pays for subsidized care. Based on recommendations from the rate and quality workgroup, which was formed out of the passing of AB-131, CDSS is working with Prenatal to Five to develop an alternative methodology for state reimbursements, moving to a cost-of-care model and away from basing rates on the private market.

Due to the unique nature of CCTR and CSPP programs, the cost of care is very different from private pay centers and family child care homes.

We have been informed that center-based subsidized CSPP and CCTR programs are extremely under-represented in these survey efforts. A lower-than-expected response to input and survey opportunities is reason for concern, as we must ensure all of our contractors’ costs are included to support a sustainable mixed delivery system.        Click here to access the cost of care survey now.

To understand the true cost of care and develop a tool that can better support positive outcomes for children and families, they need input and participation from our early care and education leaders.

We need center-based, subsidized contractors to respond in large numbers to support this effort and ensure it accurately represents all communities. There are multiple ways to respond. Click the link below and learn more on how you can take the survey and/or participate in one of the many scheduled open input sessions.

Contractors with Multiple Centers/Sites

It has come to our attention that completing the cost of care survey shared below can be challenging for centers with multiple sites/centers. As such, Prenatal to 5 has shared with us a spreadsheet that makes it easier to provide data rather than having to complete a survey for each site. The spreadsheet can be downloaded here.

Please follow the instructions at the top of the page in the linked spreadsheet and contact Katie Kenyon at Prenatal to 5 Fiscal Strategies (katie@prenatal5fiscal.org) if you have any questions or need any support in completing the spreadsheet. Responses are due by September 29th, and the completed file can be sent to Katie Kenyon at the email address above.

Thank you for your engagement!
