Update - Child Development Permit Verification of Completion Program |
In 2005, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing developed a streamlined Child Development Permit process for community colleges and four year universities. Child Development Permit candidates whose applications are submitted by programs that have completed state review, will skip state level transcript evaluations, thus speeding up permit issuance. The applications of Child Development Permit candidates submitted through this program will now by-pass the current application queue at the Commission and will be processed immediately. Permit candidates may still submit applications directly to the Commission if they choose to, and will need to do so if the community college or university they attend does not participate in the Commission’s program review option. The Commission will conduct periodic audits to ensure that this new procedure is working effectively. There are currently fourteen community college and four-year university programs participating in this program. Child Development Permits authorize individuals to work in preschool programs supported with public funding. The Commission issues and renews approximately 12,000 permits per year.
