In March 2005, the California Child Development Administrators Association (CCDAA) authorized a task force to study the challenges facing community college child development centers.

Task force members Nicki Harmon, Lucy Grotesch, Janette Henry, Darlene Jackson, Mary Ashley, and Dee Tucker issued a survey to all California community college child development centers during the summer of 2005. At this time, data has been colleted from about 60 college child development centers. This data has provided us with powerful information which can be used to promote the health of our campus child development programs in the future. Our goal is two fold:

1. Collect data for lobbying efforts to promote campus child care and education.

2. Connect the field with the collective stories which will support efforts to sustain and promote your program on your college campus.

The survey data has provided information on how other colleges operate, weather change, and deal with current challenges. This survey has "gathered strength in number" with information that is accurate and currently addressing the unique needs of the California Community College early child care and education programs. The directory lists all college centers with contact and relevant information. It is organized by college district. A complimentary copy has been sent to all CCDAA members.
